I just went out and tried a 1 oz. load using the DRV20 wad. STS hull and W-209, 17.0 grs, Longshot, (Hodgdon lists from 16.3 to 18.0 using the WAA20F1), and 1 oz. #7-1/2 shot. Had to use a little bit of wad pressure, but it then fit and crimped very nicely. Just need to contact Hodgdon and get their blessing on the load.I went digging in my old Lyman book and found a load with 540 powder and SP20 wads. Also some HS-6 which I’ve read is one of the few powders that is the same as 540. My book lists both loads, so guess I’ll have to give up on the 20/28 with SP20 wads. Thanks for all the replies. You can get away with Bismuth in the Rem and Win hulls with the right powder and wads. There is 1oz load data available in the ballistic products advantages manual with in-stock wads.If the SP 20 is a tapered wall wad, it was redesigned as the SP 20 predates the tapered wall hull.
